*** Charity Funding - Thank You! ***

"Thank you" to all those who helped to collect Lincolnshire Echo vouchers in the run up to Christmas.

We amassed 332 coupons, which translates into 156.22 in valuable funds that the Branch will receive. That's about 44p per coupon if my mathematics is correct! In total, a staggering 45706 coupons were collected by the 200 competing charities, and we came in a very creditable 41st. This was a really good effort, especially considering we have members spread throughout the county, most of whom don't even receive the Lincolnshire Echo. And the extreme short-notice we had of this scheme meant that we couldn't even include details in our own Newsletter.

Thank you for your help in supporting Lincolnshire butterflies and a belated Happy New Year to you all!

Peter Cawdell
Chairman
Lincolnshire Branch of Butterfly Conservation.

Snakeholme Pit Work Day - Saturday 8th October 2011

Hedging his bets, John Davison at work!

Would you let this man anywhere near your barbecue?

Is that a strimmer in your pocket...

*** Charity Funding - Help urgently required! ***

The Lincolnshire Echo (now weekly on Thursdays) is giving away 20,000 to local charities. We, the Lincolnshire Branch of Butterfly Conservation, are one of 200 charities that have been selected, but urgently need your help to secure some of this funding.

How does it work? Well, coupons will be printed in this week's edition of the paper and then on every following Thursday until 15th December 2011, with some bonus coupons thrown in for good measure. The more coupons we collect, the greater our share of the money. Simple!

So, all we are asking is, please can you collect as many of these coupons as possible, cut them out and send them to either:

Peter Cawdell, 49 Tower Crescent, Lincoln, LN2 5QF.

or,

Derek Fox, 'Lisheen', Barlings Lane, Langworth, Lincoln, LN3 5DA.

The closing date for receipt of coupons at the Lincolnshire Echo is the 22nd December 2011, so please get them to us as soon as possible, so that we can ensure they are counted before this date. Also, if you could "tell all of your family and friends about this", whether via e-mail, letter, text, or by phone, and beg/borrow any additional coupons that you can lay your hands on, then we can further increase our proportion of the funding.

Thank you, in advance, for your help in supporting Lincolnshire butterflies!

Peter Cawdell
Chairman
Lincolnshire Branch of Butterfly Conservation.

Lincolnshire Branch 25th Anniversary Celebrations - Saturday 22nd August 2009

This year (2009), the Lincolnshire Branch of Butterfly Conservation celebrated its 25th Anniversary. To mark this special occasion the Branch organised a series of events on Saturday 22nd August. This began with a Butterfly Walk around Covenham Reservoir, followed by a barbecue and then a Moth night at the home of Mick and Christine Speight.

Many thanks to Mick and Christine Speight for hosting this event at their home.
